William L. Shelley

William L. Shelley Sr. 'Lou', 87, died March 10, 2017 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his eldest son William Shelley Jr. and his dear friend Eloise Lane. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Lloyd and Deborah Shelley, his children Richard and Libbie Shelley, David and Karen Shelley, Robert and Dolores Shelley, Rebecca and Mike Dale. His grandchildren Nathan, Elizabeth, Seth, Paul, Michael (Samantha), Ryan and Jacob, and great grandchildren Quinn, Teagan, Lilian and Brockton, good friends and neighbors Bill and Mary Anderson and Dan, Sheila & Patrick O'Rourke, and his loyal cat Duncan. Bill lived a simple life at his home in the town of Newark Valley. As a young man he served with the U.S. Army in Germany shortly following World War II. Bill was proud to work with his sons in the meat business. He loved hunting, fishing, and taking care of his yard and garden. He also loved tinkering with antique clocks and enjoyed watching old westerns. His faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was an inspiration to all of us during his illness. We will dearly miss the man who has been so important in our lives. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Lourdes Hospice Care for their help and kindness throughout this difficult time. MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, NY is assisting the family.
