Life is a song ~ Love the music..William C. Jackson, 93, passed away peacefully to his heavenly home on Friday, February 28, 2014. Bill is survived by his loving, devoted wife of nearly 68 years, Margaret (Thorne) Jackson; his children: David Jackson, Teri (David) Morse, Peter (Angie) Jackson, Jean (James) Bolden; his sister Irene Meister; his special grandchildren: Cody Jackson, Whitney Morse, Kyle Jackson, Sabrina Sepulveda, Valerie Rosado, Joshua Bolden and James Bolden; eight great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Bill was born on May 5, 1920 in Buffalo, NY , son of the late Clement and Alice (Potter) Jackson. Bill was a graduate of Orchard Park High School and received his Masters in Music from Fredonia. He was a veteran of the US Army. Bill shared his love of music with the students during his career as the music teacher in Newark Valley. He retired in 1978 following thirty-two years of teaching. Bill was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Owego where he participated in the church choir. He enjoyed performing with his saxophone with various bands from the community over the years . Bill enjoyed photography, painting and drawing, and avidly sewed clothing for himself and the family. He will be greatly missed by his family and his community. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Friday, March 7th from 6-8 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. A celebration his life will be held on Saturday, March 8th at 10 am at St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Owego with Father Geoffrey Doolittle, presiding.
