Wayne E Snapp, 73, a life-long, well known and respected dairy farmer from Newark Valley, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 following an illness. Wayne will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda (Messersmith) Snapp, his devoted children, William and wife Ellen Snapp and Bonnie Snapp; his cherished grandson, Jacob and wife Alyssa Snapp, his brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Sue Snapp and many extended family members and friends.
Wayne was a 1969 graduate of Newark Valley High School where he was active in 4-H and FFA (Future Farmers of America). Shortly thereafter he began working with his family on the Snapp Family Farm. Over the years he was active in the Broome-Tioga Registered Holstein Club, and served on the board of FSA (Farm Service Agency). Wayne LOVED to visit! He so enjoyed keeping in touch with his classmates at high school reunions; eating at the Creekside Diner with the other regulars and being treated by the staff as family; working at the Stoughton Farm Corn Maze in the fall, seeing many of his ‘old’ friends as well as making many new friends. Wayne also enjoyed gardening and the challenges of word-find and jig-saw puzzles. He will be greatly missed!
Wayne’s family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley on Sunday, Oct. 1st from 1-4 pm. A Funeral Service and Celebration of his life will be held there on Monday at 11 am with Rev. Brandilynn Craver, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Newark Valley, officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
