Wallace E. Jarvis, 88, of Owego, passed away on April 10, 2009. Wally was born on Dec. 18, 1920 in Otselic, NY a son of the late V. Kirk and Anna (Thompson) Jarvis. He was also predeceased by his brother Harold, sisters, Delores, Leona, Irene, son-in-law Arthur Lord and grandson, Adam Lord. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Margaret (Lancaster) Jarvis, daughters, Judy Lord, Janet Beebe (Earl Westbrook), Joyce (Dennis) Shelp, Jody (Mark) Hollenbeck, Jane Jarvis, 9 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Brian, Jason, Julie, Heather, Heidi, Dennis Jr., Toby, Andrew, 8 great grandchildren, brother, Ralph, sister-in-law, Bethel and many nieces and nephews.Wally was of veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy, some of the time on the USS Audubon. He was employed by IBM Endicott and Owego before owning and operating a dairy farm in Weltonville for many years the job he truly loved. He attended many auctions and loved to bring home ponies for his daughters.After retiring from farming, he built the Jolly J Mobile Home Park in Weltonville, which he maintained for several years along with his wife, Margaret. After fully retiring to his gentlemans farm on Halsey Valley Rd in Tioga Center, he spent many years enjoying his younger daughters horses, planting and tending his huge vegetable gardens, fishing in his pond, hunting every fall with his good friends and doing crossword puzzles. The family would like to thank all the staff at Riverview Manor Nursing Home, Owego for providing him care the last several years.His family will receive their friends on Tuesday at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley from 1-2 PM. A funeral service will be follow there at 2 PM with Pastor Donna Martin officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Cemetery, Owego with Military Honors accorded.
