Virginia "Ginny" Mullen

To watch live stream of Ginny's service, click here Virginia H. (Ginny) Mullen, 88, a long-time resident of Newark Valley, passed away on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022 at her home. Ginny was born in Elmira, NY a daughter of Leslie and Frieda (Loveless) Hover, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Leslie D. (Jake) Hover, Jr. and her husband Thomas A. Mullen. Ginny is survived by her son David (Ann) Mullen and daughter Barbara (Rev. Robert) Heinle; her grandchildren: Calvin (Kate Kelly) Heinle, Timothy Heinle, Lisa (Michael) Thies, Kimberly (Brennan) Webster, Kimberly Heinle, Kendra McCarthy, Ryan (Rose) McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy, Laura (Andrew) Mullen-Russell; great grandchildren: Nicholas, Sloane, Reagan, Carter, Preston,Kira. Larissa, Emily, Miranda, Menolly, Taylor and Evren. A nephew, Ted Hover, and several cousins also survive. Ginny was a devoted and very active member of the First United Methodist Church, Newark Valley. In her younger years, Ginny, with her outgoing personality and ever - present desire to be a steward of her community served as the "Welcome Wagon Lady" for new residents. She also worked at the Binghamton Press, and for the Newark Valley School System. Her volunteer work included The Newark Valley Historical Society and the Board of Directors for Hope Cemetery Association. Her love of Genealogy led her, with help from Tom, to do extensive work on the family tree as well as to compile records dating back to the establishment of Hope Cemetery in 1820. And.. Ginny served as Town Historian. Her stories and thirst for more stories prompted her to write a book entitled An Updated History of the Village of Newark Valley. Ginny, your presence will be greatly missed! Under the guidance of MacPherson Funeral Home, a time of visitation will be held on FRIDAY, Oct. 7 th at the First United Methodist Church, Newark Valley from 10 until 11:45 am. Rev. Brandilynne Craver, Pastor, will officiate at the Funeral Service and Celebration of Her Life to follow there at 12 noon. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery. Memorials may kindly be directed to the Thomas A.
