Virginia E. Wales

Virginia E. Wales, 89, formerly of Norwich and Endicott, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Nov. 16, 2011. Mrs. Wales is survived by her daughter Kathleen and Thomas S. Peters, sons: Michael and Deborah Wales, Vernon Skeet and Arline Wales; grandchildren: Thomas M., Mary, Niki, Casey, Miles, Keith and Jessica; 12 great grandchildren and her dear niece, Carole Beckwith. Born on August 23, 1923 in Union Valley, NY, she was the daughter of Glenn and Imogene (Brooks) Standish. Virginia was also predeceased by her husband, Vernon K. Wales on June 7, 1996. Virginia and Vernon were High School sweethearts and had the distinction of being chosen Best Looking Couple in their senior year. She was an avid reader, enjoyed horseback riding, nature walks, knitting, crewel work and needlepoint. In their early years, Vern and Virginia enjoyed many notable concerts at the Johnson City Pavilion.Private services will be held on Saturday, at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley followed by interment in the Plymouth Cemetery.
