Tim passed away suddenly at Desert Regional Hospital, Palm Springs, CA on February 26, 2025. He is survived by his longtime partner Nancy Congdon, Nancy’s son Ben Luddy and wife Makoto Mizutani, his siblings Sandy (Jim) Sprague, Seth (Denise) Tarbox, Jr., Cindy (Russ) Hamm, Becky (Robin) Smith, Rachel (Bob) Wilson and Jonathan Tarbox. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and predeceased by his parents Seth and Joyce Tarbox.
Tim was born in Endicott NY and raised in Newark Valley, NY. After a short excursion to Colorado, he returned to NY and settled in Owego. Tim and Nancy remained in Owego until 2016, when, after recovering from a lengthy hospital stay and having their home flooded for the second time they moved to Desert Hot Springs Ca, where they lived until his passing.
Tim was an avid outdoors person. He loved skiing and cycling as well as time on the water in one of his many self-made vessels. He was an active member of the Tioga Velo Club, serving as its president for a time.
Tim was well respected in the Owego area as the region’s premier sign maker. His legacy lives in the many signs that remain in the area. His most noticeable being the large mural that greets visitors arriving in Owego. The mural was recently repainted under his guidance. Tim was a true artist in any sense of the word. A consummate creator, constant tinkerer, explorer, inventor, philosopher. A true individual who will be greatly missed by all.
A celebration of Tim's life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Trout Ponds, 44 Spring Street, Newark Valley, NY. Memories and condolences can be shared in his online guestbook at www.macphersonfh.com.
