Thomas Patrick McManus, 58, formerly of Brooklyn and Queens, NY passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011. Tom is survived by his Father, Thomas McManus of New Port Richey, FL, his son, Thomas McManus, Jr, his loving sister and brothers and their spouses, Joan and Arnold Arnie Kozeniesky, Donald and Una McManus, Terence andJoanie McManus. Also surviving are his loving nephews Michael and Trevor and nieces Courtney, Devin, Michelle, Maureen and Ciara. Tom was born on March 29, 1952 in Woodside, NY a son of Thomas and the late Hannah (Mahoney) McManus. He attended Our Lady of Fatima grammar school, Mater Christi High School, John Jay College of Criminology and the NYC Police Academy. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, was a City of NY Police Officer and a NYC Corrections Officer at Rikers Island, retiring as Captain. Following retirement Tom made his home in Berkshire where he was very active with the Berkshire Emergency Squad and became a friend to many. He was an avid motorcycle traveler and enjoyed visiting many historical military sites throughout the Northeast. He also traveled throughout Europe visiting many historical battlefields and memorials for Veterans of Foreign Wars. Tom enjoyed photography, collecting coins, reading the history of military campaigns in the Civil War, WW I and II, and writing poetry. He was pursuing a Poet Laureate designation. Toms family will receive friends and share memories on Saturday from 11 am until 2 PM at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley . A Memorial Service will follow there at 2 Pm with Rev. William A.
