Thelma Negus

Thelma Negus, 97, of Richford, was united with her Lord and Savior at her home on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009. Mrs. Negus is survived by her five sons and daughters-in-law; LeRoy (Margie) Negus, Merle Negus, Russell (Marilyn) Negus, Leslie (Betty) Negus, Vernon (Sandra) Negus. Also surviving are her 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Born on Feb. 28, 1912, in Jasper County Indiana, as was her twin sister Alma, she was the youngest of 10 children born to James Morgan and Mary Ann (Lantz) Caldwell and the last survivor of her family. Thelma married Bliss Negus on Aug. 11, 1932. They were married for 54 years until his passing on Feb. 27, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her two daughters-in-law, Patricia Negus and Mary Ann Negus. Thelma was a devoted wife and mother, who enjoyed her home and surroundings, gardening, feeding the birds and playing cards with her family and friends. She attended the Richford Congregational Church and was a member of the former Rebekah Lodge in Richford. A Memorial Service and Celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 at the Richford Congregational Church. Pastor James Sweeney will officiate.
