On the morning of May 13, 2016, Terry passed away suddenly. He was 64 years old. Terry is survived by his wife Miyuki, children Jason and wife Kristen, David, and sisters Michele, Donna, Janet, and Trisha, along with grandchildren Leah, Anna, and TJ, and countless friends and other family members.Terry was born in Tupper Lake, NY to John (Jack) and Irene Dillon. Terry graduated from Newark Valley High School in 1970 and graduated from Alfred University in 1972 with a degree which started his career in Engineering. After raising his family in upstate NY and spending the majority of his life in the area, Terry and Miyuki recently relocated to Annapolis, MD while spending most weekends in Newark Valley, NY to renovate his fathers home. Terry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he came in contact with. A constant optimist, Terry enjoyed fishing, hunting, music, nature photography, and working with his hands on a variety of projects from home improvements, to creative solutions for everyday issues, to his recent hobby rebuilding case tractors. Terry had a gift for making the dullest tasks into an adventure. He had a creative mind which generally made his projects elaborative and time consuming; youd better have a full weekend available when one arose. Terry had a fun loving disposition and could start a conversation with anybody and often did make new friends this way because he genuinely enjoyed people and learning new things whenever the opportunity presented itself. He was sent to Japan for work a number of years ago. Terry didnt know the language or culture but took this as an opportunity to explore Japan and to meet as many people as he could. He built lifetime friendships during this time including with his future wife and best friend Miyuki.Terry had a very successful career in engineering. He was proud to be the lead designer of one of the first electric cars even though the car was never taken to market. He was a dedicated worker who would work nights and weekends to make sure projects were completed on time. His last position was at LTK which had a mix of local work in DC as well as travel throughout the US and a number of foreign locations. He was an employee anyone would want to have working for them because he always gave 100% effort in solving problems while displaying unfaltering loyalty.Terry was not one for slowing down or taking it easy and basically never took a break. He would spend long days working at the office and then work all weekend long on house projects. He was always available to help a friend in need and was very generous to the people in his life. His approach to hard work was an inspiration to his children and others who knew him to do their best in life. The world will miss Terry as he was truly special to so many.Visiting hours will be Friday May 20, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. with the service immediately following at 4:00 p.m. at MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley, NY.Memories and condolences may be written in Terry's Guestbook at macphersonfh.com Visitation MacPherson Funeral Home, Inc.
