Stephen M. Lawton

Stephen M. Lawton, 62, of Richford, went home to be with the Lord and was reunited with his son David and brother John, on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009. Steve is survived by his beloved wife Tammy Lawton and his beloved children, Mike at home, Gary of Berkshire and Misty of Richford, his step sons, Fred (Erin) Milefski, San Diego, CA, Rob Milefski, St. Mary, GA, Ray Stone, Kingbay, GA. Also surviving are his loving parents, Robert and Joyce Lawton of Berkshire, sister, Lori (David) Vogel, Owego, 7 grandchildren, several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and his special uncle, John Haines.Steve was born on June 27, 1947 in Johnson City, NY. He was a graduate of Newark Valley High School class of 67. For the past 28 years, he has faithfully served as Highway Superintendent for the Town of Richford. He was a loving family man and took great pleasure in hosting small or large events at his home. He also enjoyed traveling with his family, working outdoors, hunting and fishing. Steve was a member of the Richford Fire Dept.A funeral service and celebration of Steve's life will be held at 1 pm on Thursday at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. Rev. Jackson Cox and Pastor Viki Andrews will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Richford. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home.
