Shirley M. Abrams, 76,Formerly of Candor, passed away on Aug 4, 2009 following an extended illness. Shirley is survived by her mother, Laura Gunther, her sisters, Eleanor Leisey, Nancy (Darl) Benjamin, Carolyn (Ron) Harris, Judy (Ed) Woodward, brothers, Joseph (Karen) Gunther, Thomas (Lucy) Gunther, Donald (Betty) Gunther and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was born on May 23, 1933 in Binghamton. She was predeceased by her father, Joseph Gunther and husband Ed Abrams. She graduated from Newark Valley High School and Ridley Lowell Secretarial School and was employed at the Sheltered Workshop in Binghamton. Shirley was a very active member of the Owego Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses and devoted 70-100 hours of volunteer work per month when she was able. Presently, she was a member of the Vestal Congregation. Shirley enjoyed crocheting and designed and personalized very unique crocheted gifts. She also loved horses. She will be greatly missed.A Memorial service for Shirley will be held at the Owego Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses, Rt. 96, Candor on SATURDAY, AUGUST 15, 2009 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may kindly remember Owego Congregation of Jehovah Building Fund in memory of Shirley M. Abrams.
