Shirley J Graham

Mrs. Shirley Graham, 89, of Apache Junction, AZ and formerly of Newark Valley, NY, was united with her Lord and Savior on March 20, 2015 in Arizona. Shirley was born in Johnson City, NY a daughter of the late John W. and Florence (Gardner) Trumble. She was also predeceased by her daughter Barbara Ann Patterson in 1984, her husband James E. Graham in 1992, her son-in-law, John Gregrow in 2010 and sister, Verna Trumble in 2012. Shirely is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Gregrow of Apache Junction, her sons: William (Patricia) Bennett of Alamogordo, NM and F. Bernard (Robin) Bennett of Newark Valley; 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was a graduate of Johnson City High School, Class of 1943 and retired from IBM, Owego, following 18 years of service. Shirley and Jim made Apache Junction their home in 1984 and quickly became very involved in their new community. Shirley was an artisan with her needle and has made hundreds of quilts which she lovingly gave to her family and friends. She was a member of the Newark Valley Quilters Club and established an outreach Quilt Program in AZ, donating quilts to Veterans and the Apache Junction Police and Fire Depts. She was also volunteer at Apache Junction Food Bank.Shirley's Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 25th from 10-11 am at the MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Shirley's Life will follow there at 11 am with Rev. James T. Willard officiatingFriends wishing to honor Shirley with a memorial donation are asked to kindly consider a very special home away from home for families of cancer patients.
