SFC Kirk L. Kuntzleman, 55, passed away very suddenly on July 24, 2017 while living his motto of Honor, Duty, Country and doing what he loved, training troops at Ft. Drum. He leaves his loving wife of 27 years, Cathy, his sons Kory and Kody (Kali Little) Kuntzleman and his adored grandson Tanner; his parents: Anna M (late Harry) Kuntzleman, Richard and Barbara Kuntzleman (late Sharon Miller); his siblings: Chad (Jenny) Kuntzleman, Kim (Evelyn Hamilton) Kuntzleman, Kathy Sanchirico, Debbi Singer, Gina Baer and Donna (Robert) Henry; his father-in-law Robert (late Virginia) Mallery and his brothers-in-law and their spouses, several nieces, nephews and cousins. His brother Brett Kuntzleman, preceded him. Kirk has served in the National Guard for 31 years. He was employed as a federal technician at the Binghamton Armory for 21 years and also worked as a motor Sergeant with the National Guard 827th in Horseheads. He was a member of American Legion Post 80, Binghamton. Kirk and Cathy opened their home to many local children who affectionately called him Sarge. Kirk loved his Harley, adored his family, was proud of his natural log home he helped to build and seldom if ever, missed watching the Chicago Bears. His other happy place was his meticulously kept vegetable garden. Kirks family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St, Newark Valley on Friday, July 28th from 5-8 pm. A Funeral Service and Celebration of His Life will be held at 11 am Saturday at the Newark Valley United Church of Christ, 32 So Main St. followed by burial in Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley. Full Military Honors will be accorded. Memorials may kindly be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of SFC Kirk L. Kuntzleman.
