Sarah L. Wheeler

Sarah L. Wheelerof Newark ValleySarah L. Wheeler, 86, a lifelong resident of Newark Valley, passed peacefully at her home on February 23, 2009. Sarah is survived by her devoted son, Ralph A. Wheeler, III, and daughter-in-law, Cathy Wheeler; her sister, Bernice Alexander; her three grandchildren, Diane, Jason, Kyle; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Haley; one niece and two nephews. Sarah was born on June 1, 1923 in Newark Valley, a daughter of the late Willard D. and Ada (Wheat) Patterson. For 51 years Sarah was married to Ralph A. Wheeler, II. He predeceased her on March 26, 1994. She was also predeceased by her brothers, William and Paul Patterson; and nephew, Richard Alexander. Sarah was a former employee of the Tioga County Treasurers Office, a member of The Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 196 and enjoyed reading and gardening. In keeping with her wishes, a memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family and interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley.
