Ruth Vallilly Parker

Ruth V. Parker, 81, of Endicott, NY and formerly of Cincinnati, OH,passed away on Dec. 20, 2012 following a period of declining health. Ruth was born on August 23, 1931 in Hudson, MA the daughter of the late Henry M and Esther H. Parker. She is survived by her dear sister and brother-in-law Elisabeth and Harold Bartz of Newark Valley, NY; her niece Margaret 'Meg' (Dale) Ward, Newark Valley, aunt, Alda Irons, New Hampshire and several cousins. She will be missed by her special Cincinnati friends George Wagner and Wanda Cook. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her nephew Charles Bartz.Education: BA Whitman College, Walla Walla, WA; MA, University of Cincinnati; with further studies in philosophy at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and the University of Cincinnati. She taught briefly at SUNY Albany, and at Ohio University, Athens, OH. She retired from the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Cincinnati. When able, she enjoyed hiking, canoeing and folk dancing. Her cats were treasured company. She was a science fiction fan and delighted in SF conventions. She loved music, particularly opera, classical and jazz. She was a lifelong learner, always wanting to know more. Family services will be held at a later date.
