Ruth B. Champney Monroe

Ruth Champney Monroe,85, of Newark Valley,loving wife, mother, and grandmother died on July 24, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard F. Monroe on March 13, 2008, her brothers Walter and William Bridges, sister-in-law Marian Bridges, and in-laws Raymond and Madelyn Wolf. Ruth is survived by her son, William (Deb) Champney and daughter Karen (Peter Eisener) Quinn. She was "Grammy" to two special grandchildren Drew and Brynn Champney. Also surviving are her extended family including Dick's three sons and families- John (Ann) Monroe, Mark (Sue) Monroe, Scott Monroe and Linda Monroe and her sisters-in-law Glenda Bridges and Barbara Doh and their families. Ruth also leaves a loving group of special nieces and nephews and their families. Her life has been blessed and brightened by so many special friends and guardian angels including her special at home caretakers. Ruth was born on Dec. 20, 1924 in Peckville, PA a daughter of the late John and Jennie (Evans) Bridges. She was a graduate of Newark Valley High School, class of '42 and was a dedicated employee of NBT Bank in Newark Valley for 35 years retiring in 1987. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newark Valley for more than 50 years.Ruth's family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Tuesday at the Newark Valley First United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Her Life will follow there at 11 am with Rev. Nancy Adams, her pastor, officiating.
