Obituary To watch the livestream of Roy's service Click Here Roy R. Briggs, 93, of Newark Valley, NY, passed away on February 5, 2022. He is survived by his brother David (Mary) Briggs, and 21 nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Hazel Briggs; and siblings Ken (Dorothy) Briggs, Carl (Doris) Briggs, Helen (Vincent) McCabe, Jim (Marion) Briggs, Harold Briggs, and Norman Briggs. Roy graduated from Newark Valley High School class of 1946. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his time in the service, Roy began his career as a Financial Services Analyst at IBM Endicott, where he later retired in 1978. Roy was an avid outdoorsman and had many fond memories growing up on his family farm. He especially loved his John Deere tractors. In his free time, Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading history books. Known for his kindness and generosity, Roy will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Friends and family are invited to a period of visitation at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, on Saturday, February 12th from 12 - 1 o'clock, at which time a celebration of his life will be held. Burial will be held in Hope Cemetery later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may kindly be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, or another charity of choice in loving memory of Roy.
