Martin 75, passed peacefully away on July 12, 2012 following an illness.He will be greatly missed by his loving children, their spouses and his cherished grandchildren (who also treasured him): Debbie and Ray Marsh, Bryan, Kristen, Ashlee; Gregory and Margo Martin, Adam, Jared and Gabriel; Dianne and Olin Anderson, Lara and Lucas; Larry and Rena-Renae Martin, Mackenzie, Dwayne and Tony; Todd and Lori Martin, Ryan and Kyle. He is also survived by his sisters: Marjorie Pitcher, Mary Lou Martin, sister-in-law, Lois Martin, aunt, Evelyn Martin and their families.Ron was born in Berkshire on Nov. 12, 1936 the son of Frederick and Pauline (Barden) Martin. He was predeceased by an infant brother, Roger, his brother Richard and brother-in-law, Richard Pitcher. He was a graduate of Newark Valley High School, Class of 1955 and a 35 year employee of IBM, Owego. A gentle man with a gentle soul, Ron will be remembered as an easy going, patient and understanding individual who called it like it was yet looked for the best in everyone and everything. His happiest times were those spent with his family camping, boating, fishing or any at other outdoor activities in the Adirondacks or The Thousand Islands.A period of visitation will be held on Sunday from 6-8 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. A Funeral Service and Celebration of His Life will be held at 10 am on Monday at the funeral home. Rev. James T. Willard, family friend, will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery, Berkshire. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Berkshire Emergency Squad, PO Box 506, Newark Valley, NY 13811.
