Roger K. Harvey, 50, of Freeville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 28, 2024. Roger, or “Ra” as he was affectionately known by his friends and family, was born on April 12, 1974 in Saratoga Springs, NY a son of Roger G. (Kathy) Harvey Sr. and Audrey Harvey.

In addition to his parents, Roger is survived by his longtime companion Rebecca “Becky” Vansteenburgh, his beloved children Nicholas Harvey, Daniel (McKenzie) Harvey, and Jessica Harvey, grandchildren Michael, Roy, Annalynn, Denise, Tanner, and a granddaughter who is on the way. Roger will be greatly missed by his brothers Roger (Mindy) Harvey Jr., Lee (Marla) Harvey, and his step sister Nicole Edwards, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

From a young age, Roger's affinity for mechanics was evident. He turned his passion into a career as an auto mechanic, where he specialized in installing and repairing audio and sound systems in vehicles.

His weekends were often spent kayaking along serene waterways, his eyes scanning the skies for the majestic eagles he so loved. It was in these moments of quiet adventure that Roger felt most at peace, surrounded by nature and the gentle splash of his paddle in the water. He also enjoyed the thrill of a race at the dirt track.

Friends and family are invited to share memories of Roger at the Newark Valley Fire Station on Saturday, October 5, 2024 starting at 2:00 p.m. a memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Memories and condolences can be shared in his guest book at www.macphersonfh.com.
