Rodney "Buck" Lane

Newark Valley, NY

Dad parked his ’54 Chevy pickup for the last time overlooking the Valley he grew up in. It is with a full heart of memories that we say “till we meet again.”

Rodney ‘Buck’ Lane, born December 3, 1948 passed away on December 28, 2024. Buck is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Eileen, his daughter Penny (husband Bill Spoonhower) and son Rod (wife Paige Lane), grandsons Brennan, Benjamin, Connor, and Landon. His sisters Sueann (Steve) and Cindy. Many other nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends also survive.

Buck was predeceased by his parents Rodney W. and Betty Lane, and his little brother Big C.

Buck served in the Vietnam War as an MP and was awarded several medals including two bronze stars, which he refused to accept. That’s just how he rolled.

Diagnosed two years ago, Buck didn’t want his family to know how, didn't want to know long he had, and refused treatment. That’s just how he rolled.

He was always there to protect and give sage advice, which he did not always follow, but made sure we knew right from wrong. Again, that’s just how he rolled.

If you see the ’54 cruising the hills and valleys of Tioga County, a thumbs up and smile would mean the world to Buck and his family.

Please join us on Saturday May 31st at 11:00 a.m. for a get-together on the hill. God Bless you all.

Memories and condolences can be shared in Buck’s guestbook online at www.macphersonfh.com. The family is under the caring guidance of MacPherson Funeral Home of Newark Valley.
