Robert N. Young

Robert N. Young, 65, of Newark Valley, was united with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 8, 2009 following an illness. Bob is survived by his sisters, Judith Young, of San Francisco, CA, and Bette Jane Daimo, of Berkshire. He is also survived by his Aunt, Patricia Birchall and Uncle, Donald Young, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his son Lawrence Kirschner, of East Northport NY, grandson Jared, and granddaughter Devin. Bob was born in Endicott, NY on January 26, 1944 a son of the late Nathan and Barbara Jean (Dence) Young. His brother Thomas G. Young also preceded him in death. Bob was a graduate of Newark Valley High School, Class of 1963 and served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam era. Bob was a faithful member of The Sword and the Spirit Church in Owego and would readily witness and testify in order to bring more people to Christ. He enjoyed dancing, singing, playing the trumpet and cooking and he thoroughly enjoyed eating. In addition, Bob wrote beautiful poetry and often presented a poem as a gift of love to his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, Newark Valley with Rev. Nancy J. Adams, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Allentown Cemetery, Glen Aubrey. MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley is assisting with arrangements.
