Robert L. Marean, Sr., 75, passed away at his home, following an illness, on Saturday evening, March 7, 2009. Bob is survived by his loving family, Norene Marean, Robert L. Marean, Jr., Barbara Marean and special friend, Barbara Babij, Lee Ann (Chuck) Gleason, Bobbi (Jack) Dalton, and Alice (Craig) Oakley. Also surviving are his 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, an uncle and several cousins. Bob was born on May 4, 1933 in Endicott, a son of the late Floyd P. and Lora (Hawver) Marean. He was predeceased by his wife, June (Slusser) Marean (1996); and son, Dale Slusser. Bob attended Maine Central High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post 1390 for more than 50 years, a former member of the Johnson City Eagles and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and Bingo. At Bob's request, all services will be private. Friends who wish to remember Bob with a memorial donation are asked to consider a contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Attn.: Memorial Program, PO Box 1000 Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38148-0552, in Memory of Robert L. Marean, Sr. MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, is assisting the family with arrangements.
