Robert D. Chatfield, 77, of Woodburn, OR and formerly of Newark Valley, NY and Dover, DE, passed on to his next adventure on November 25, 2020. In the care of Hospice and surrounded by family he gave up his battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda, and his beloved children: Brien J. Chatfield (Elizabeth) of Los Angeles, CA, and Laura Chatfield Stensland (Darren) of Tigard, OR. He is also survived by his brother Scott Chatfield (Kathy) of N. Ft. Myers, Fl. He left four grandchildren: Leah and Matthew Stensland, Matthew White (Susan) and Brittany White as well as two great grandchildren Kiley and Jacob White. He is pre-deceased by his brother Courtney. There are also numerous cousins and dear friends who mourn him. Bob was born in Syracuse, NY on Easter Day in 1943 to Robert and Dorothy Chatfield (Ringwood). He graduated from N. Syracuse High School, and Rennselear Polytech University in Management. He was a brother of PI Kappa Phi fraternity where he made life-long friends. Also in his youth he was a champion wrestler and loved football, hockey and softball. He had a quick mind and dry humor. Bob had a long career as a highly skilled software engineer in military applications, which took him to many US cities and overseas, retiring only in 2019. He was an avid student of history, reading and taking advanced classes whenever he could: a warehouse of facts and political theories. Over the years he served in Jaycees, coached soccer, and volunteered in a number of museums, including the NVHS when his wife Linda was Director there. Among his final wishes were in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to local fire and rescue companies, or the Wounded Warrior Project. Memories and condolences may be written in his guestbook at macphersonfh.com. .
