Ricky Tiny Keil, 59, of Owego, passed away on May 6, 2015. Ricky is survived by his best friend, soul mate, caregiver and loving wife of 37 years, Judith M. Keil, his devoted children: son Matthew W. Keil, of Rochester and daughter Amanda and her husband Chad Burkholder. Ricky is also survived by his caring sister Cathy Keil, of Owego, mother-in-law, Ruth Kingsland, several nieces, nephews, cousins and his wonderful granddog Jack. Ricky was born in Lewisburg, PA on June 1, 1955 a son of the late William and Gladys (Keefer) Keil. Our Gentle Giant with an enormous heart and a smile almost as large, battled diabetes and the many additional afflictions associated with it for much of his life. But he never forgot how to live! He was a former member of the Apalachin Fire Dept. and served as Lieutenant of the Emergency Squad in the 70s. His 23 years as a machinist with IBM, Endicott, would have continued for much longer had it not been for health issues. In the early 60s, he became a life-time Motor Sports Fan as his father began teaching him the ropes. This in turn led him to become an amateur photographer, a good mechanic and a founding member of the Tri-County Microd Club. He assisted many local teams and his passion for the sport became a family passion, especially for Matt. Family timeso important..as avid campers and travelers many memories of good times and good friends were created! In addition, he was a skilled wood and metal worker and an ardent Giants fan. Rickys family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Saturday from 4-6 pm followed by an open mic time to share stories and memories from 6-6:45. A Christian Memorial service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Aaron Shian Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Owego, officiating.
