Richard W. Barriger

Softly in the morning you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all. Richard W. Barriger, 76, of Owego, NY, gained his angel wings on March 13, 2022. Richard loved music and played in many local bands; he was known for his special talent of playing a right-handed guitar upside down. Richard is predeceased by a son Scott Barriger, a granddaughter Heather Pease, his parents Albert and Bessie Barriger, a sister Anne Jennings as well as a brother-in-law Jed Woodruff. Richard leaves behind his devoted wife Karen, 5 daughters: Brittany (Christopher) Seniska of Owego, NY, Jessica (ex-husband John) Erway of Owego, NY, Gracie (Dennis) Travis of Endicott, NY, Lisa (Ron) Pease of Binghamton, NY, and Laurie Barriger (Brian Riley) of Florida; 2 sons: Richard Barriger of Smithville Flats and Jeffery (Meghan) Bullock of Tennessee. Richard is also survived by 2 stepchildren: Melinda (Guy) Raymond Jr. of Apalachin, NY, and Matthew (Heather) Page of Owego, NY. Richard loved his many grandchildren and great grandchildren but had a special bond with Karson, Cayden, Paisley and Brodie who called him Papa. Richard will be deeply missed by his sisters: Alberta (Don) Clapper of Conklin, NY, Marie Barriger of Great Bend, and Judy Woodruff of Conklin, NY, as well as a brother-in-law Tom Jennings. The family would like to thank River View for the care and compassion they showed Richard. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 4 6 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street, Newark Valley, NY.
