Richard R. Watson, 91, of Owego passed away on June 7, 2016 following a long struggle with illness. Born on June 6, 1925 in New York City, he was the son of the late John and Anne Watson. Richard was also preceded in death by his grandson Geoffrey T. Watson in 2015.He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy (Barrie) Watson, at home; his daughters: Barbara (Paul) Loftus, Brookfield, CT, Jean Watson, Owego, and son, Dr. Douglas (Kathie) Watson, Owego; his grandchildren: David (Heather) Loftus, Katherine (Daniel) Pacileo, Brian (Diana) Loftus, Scott Loftus, Samantha Watson, Caitlin Watson, Lisa LaPlaca and great grandchildren, Savannah and Hunter Loftus and Grace Pacileo; his brother John (Eleanor) Watson. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law: Rita Jason, Karen (Tom) Camp, brother-in-law, George (Pat) Barrie and nieces and nephews: Diana Jason, Chris Jason, Heather Barrie, Scott Barrie, Lauren Meadows, Steven Gaudino, Teri Ferro, William Watson, Maria Fergus and John Watson.Richard graduated from Peter Stuyvesant High School, earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from NY University and his Master of Science Degree from Stevens Institute of Technology. He served in the US Navy during WW II and had a career span of 25 years with IBM, retiring in 1992. Richard loved and was always very supportive of his family and proud of all their accomplishments. His quest for knowledge and enjoyment extended from electronics to raising Polled Herefords, to repairing of clocks, and hunting. Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation and sharing of memories at the MacPherson Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held there on Saturday morning at 9 oclock followed by burial in Hope Cemetery with full military honors accorded. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider directing memorials to the Salvation Army or Tioga County Boys and Girls Club in memory of Richard R. Watson.
