Richard ‘Dick’ Nevel, of Harford, NY, peacefully passed away on November 4,
2023. Born on July 17, 1932, a son of the late William and Lena (Whitesall)
Nevel.
Dick is survived by his children: Sharon (David) Brame, Debra (Ronald)
Talcott, JoAnn (Mike) Pierce, Richard ‘Ricky’ (Brenda) Nevel, Mary (Ron)
Nevel and Lori (Dave) DeSanto, his grandchildren: Tammy (Ken) Bean, Amie
Wales, Renee (Jon) Neff, Michael (Michelle) Pierce, Tracy Elmore (Chris),
Stephanie (Keith) Ives, Samantha (Josh) Cline, Douglas Pogorzelski (Laura),
Alyssa (Ethan) Ingland, Katie, Jena and Madison DeSanto, his great
grandchildren: Kayla (TJ) Walter, Tori (Bub) Hoffmier, Kelsey Bean, Alison and
Nick Wales, Aubrie, Anna, and Hailey Gurley, Jameson Pierce, Dominic
(Crystal) Stark, Austin (Kaitlin) Stark, Chris Jr and Travis Stark, Keith Jr and
Logan Ives, Julianna and Caleb Brown, Aaliyah, Holden, and Rylie
Pogorzelski, Lilith and Raven Ingland, his great-great grandchildren: Addison,
Hayden, and Kamryn Walter, Tucker and Jase Hoffmier, Maisie and Rae Lynn
Stark, also survive along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. His
cousins, Carmen Smith and Carol Wildoner, will always hold a spot in his
heart as sisters.
In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61
years, Hazel (Redmond) Nevel, his son Ronald Nevel, and his siblings Donald
and Pearl Nevel.
Dick was born and raised in Hunlocks Creek, PA before moving to Whitney
Point, NY. Dick was a retired employee of ANSCO Camera Company in
Binghamton, NY.
Dick's interests were diverse and reflected his love for the outdoors and
sports. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding peace and tranquility in
nature. He always had a fishing story to share. His love for NASCAR,
watching football and little league games on TV, cheering on his favorite
teams with an infectious enthusiasm will be remembered by many. His
greatest joy of all was spending time with family. He attended every birthday,
graduation, wedding, any celebration that he could, to spend time with his
loved ones.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation on Saturday, November
11 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley,
NY, a Funeral Service will follow there at 11:00, with Pastor Kevin Rollo officiating.
