Richard F. Pope, 77, of Great Bend KS, passed away on Feb. 1, 2012 at his home.He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan D. (Robinson) Pope, his daughters, Cathy (Stuart) Yetter, Newark Valley, Lori (Colin) Hammeke, KS, Vicki (Charles) Spina, KS, six grandchildren: Aaron (Becky) Hammeke, Daniel (Sally) Spina, Ryan (Megan) Hammeke, Jessica Spina, Abigail Hammeke, Elizabeth Yetter; 3 great grandchildren: Ethan, Beth and Emma. Additional survivors include a special aunt, Ina (Bob) Pogar, cousins: Richard (Eileen) Buckingham, Mary Buckingham, brothers-in-law: William (Judy) Robinson, David (Dianne) Robinson, two nieces: Wendy (Steve) McKinney, Debi (Wally) Wright, two nephews: Jim (Gail) Robinson, Paul (Maureen) Robinson. Dick was born on November 4, 1934 in Endicott, a son of Lyman and Cora (Spicer) Pope. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Lisa Joleen Hammeke. He was a graduate of Union Endicott High School, Class of 1952, served in the US Army from 1955-57 and US Army Reserves until 1962. He retired from IBM, Owego, following more than 30 years of service and was an avid hunter and fisherman.His family will receive friends on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012 from 12 noon until 2 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. A funeral service and celebration of his life will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Rolf Eschke officiating.
