Richard Carlton Settleof Newark ValleyRichard C. Settle, 73, a life long resident and well known dairy farmer, passed from this life early Thursday morning, August 20, 2009. Dick is survived by his wife, Maryanne (Luce) Settle; his son, Richard C. Settle, Jr.; his daughters and their spouses: Robin (Charles) Beaudoin, Roxanne Settle, Rebecca Fetherbay, Ronda (Kevin) Kunsman, Raquel 'Kelly' (Mark) Howell,; his brothers Donald (Helen) Marsh, Gerald (Sara) Marsh, Robert (Ann) Marsh; his sister, Bonnie McLaud; his stepchildren, Duane (Kathleen) Fetherbay, Clayton Fetherbay, Colleen Kunsman, Amanda Blee, Evelyn (Robert) Ratterree, 18 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and the mother of his children, Ruia Lewis. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and several aunts and uncles also survive.On April 7, 1936 Dick was born to Carlton and Lillian (Zimmer) Settle. He was raised on the farm and then raised his own children on the now 4th generation farm. Dick was a member of Farm Bureau and a dedicated farmer who also loved the outdoors and hunting. When not working he would enjoy a Yankee or Giant game. A Memorial Service and celebration of Dick's life will be held on Sunday at 3 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home. Pastor Sal Maiorana of the Union Center Christian Church will officiate. Dick's family will receive their friends at the funeral home from 1 PM until the time of the service at 3.
