Richard Andreas

Richard Andreas, 94, of Speedsville, N.Y. passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 13, 2025. Born on July 28, 1930 in Brooklyn, N.Y., Dick’s love of his family filled him with complete joy and happiness. A quiet soul with a profound sense of humor that was always present.


Dick is survived by his loving wife Shirley Jordan Andreas, the couple celebrated 70 years marriage in August surrounded by their family. In addition to his wife Shirely, he is also survived by his beloved children Deborah Abbey, Valerie Andreas, and Scott Andreas (Aileen), as well as Trudy Jordan Morse, who he loved as a daughter, his grandchildren Justin Abbey (Richelle), Erin Kasmarcik (Brian), Brooks Moses (Rachel), Blake Moses (Beckie), and Scott Christoper Andreas, great grandchildren Simon, Cecilia, Sawyer, Elizabeth, Allison, Xavier, Rosalyn, Noah, Sebastain, and Avery, all the joys of his life.


He was predeceased by his first-born grandchild, Jessica Elizabeth Abbey.


Dick was a member of the United States Army for two years and was stationed in Panama as a Master Printer. After his honorable discharge, Dick worked as a Finish Carpenter until his retirement.


He was an active member of his community in his younger years, doing carpentry work for the church and community members. Dick also built his family home alone from start to finish. He was extremely proud of his accomplishments.


Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Dick’s life on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Speedsville, N.Y. 1504 76 Road, Berkshire, N.Y. 13736 at 2:00p.m. with the reverend Pat Kinney and the reverend Richard Schaal officiating. A period of visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Please join the family after the service at the Speedsville Community Hall for a luncheon celebrating Dick’s life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. John’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 132, Newark Valley, NY 13811 in loving memory of Richard Andreas. Memories and condolences can be shared in Dick’s online guestbook at www.macphersonfh.com. The family is under the caring guidance of the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley.
