Reginald F. 'Sonny' Chapman, 80, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2010 at Riverview Manor, in Owego. Sonny is survived by his former wife and friend Mary Jane Chapman, Nichols, his son and daughter in law, David and Darci Chapman, Berkshire, grandchildren, Lashelle V. Chapman, and Randen Chapman, brother Charles Chapman, Newark Valley, sister and brother in law, Elaine and Jerry Stone, TX, sister, Carolyn Barnes, PA, sister-in-law Cecile Chapman, Maine, many nieces, and nephews, all of whom loved this gentle soul. Reginald was born September 27, 1929 in Caribou, Maine son of the late Aubrey and Mildred (Brown) Chapman. He was also predeceased by his brother John. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Army and a faithful employee of Gold Medal Ladder Factory in Newark Valley for 38 years. He was very proud of the fact that he never missed a day of work. Sonny was a loving father, caring grandfather and brother and a lifelong friend to many. Until we meet again, enjoy your walks with Arnie. You will be sorely missed.Reginalds family will receive friends at MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, on Monday Feb. 22 from 10 AM until 12 noon. A funeral service will follow there at 12 pm with Rev. James Willard officiating. Military Honors will be accorded.
