Ralph 'Butch' Edson

Ralph L. 'BUTCH" Edson, 67, of Newark Valley passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton. Butch was born on Dec. 12, 1947 in Endicott, a son of the late Ralph G. and Dora F. (Bulman)Edson. Butch is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Lois (VanWinkle)Edson and his son Jerry (Stacy) Edson and their children, Kristopher and Matthew. He is also survived by his brothers: George (Dona) Edson, Jeff (Bonnie) Edson, Don (Sue) Edson and his sister, Verna (Ken) Alexander; Also surviving are Lois' mother: LaVerta VanWinkle and Lois' brothers: Dave (Anita), Ron (Cynda) and Don VanWinkle. Butch was a US Army Veteran serving in Vietnam and was a recipient of the Bronze Star, Air Medal and Purple Heart. He enjoyed fishing, trapping , snowmobiles, horseshoes,NASCAR racing and 'tinkering' with cars.Services will be at the convenience of the family at the MacPherson Funeral Home.
