Phyllis Needham Harris

A Mother holds her childs hand for a little while and their hearts forever. Phyllis A. Harris, 83, of Berkshire, left us peacefully Wednesday afternoon, April 30, 2014. She joins in the ever after: her parents, William and Bernice Needham; husband, Merl S. (Dugie) Harris; son, John Homa; sisters, Marge and Carolyn. She is survived by her son Michael (Christine) Homa, Berkshire; sisters, Lillian Gregrow and Dorothy Torrey; brother, William Needham; grandson, Brad (John Gonzalez) Homa; several nieces and nephews. Phyllis was a graduate of Newark Valley High School, Class of 48. She held several jobs after her children were raised but her purpose in life was that of a homemaker. She was a terrific cook and was happiest when family and friends were gathered at her table. Phyllis had a special fondness for children and whether family or not she devoted her time to mentor and care for them. If you knew her but a little, or a lot, you knew she genuinely cared about what you had to say, always. Phyllis was famous for living 'in the moment', something that all of us should strive to do. She will be will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched!
