Phyllis J Newman

Phyllis J. Newman, 97, of Newark Valley passed away peacefully on December 31, 2015. She is survived by her daughters: Brenda Creeley and Linda Reed, Newark Valley and Janice (William) Bouic, Anacortes, WA; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Ann) Onofrio, Marlton, NJ and sister, Adeline Hutchinson, Apalachin, NY, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon, son, James, daughter, Lucy, grandson, Allen; her parents Nicholas and Teresa (Picciano) Onofrio, sisters, Anna Gray, Amelia Christina and brothers, Louis and Raymond Onofrio.Phyllis graduated from Newark Valley High School in 1939, loved to bowl, play bingo and buy lottery tickets, work in the yard and was a friend to many. She was a homemaker and a Newark Valley school bus driver. Phyllis was a faithful and long-time member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Newark Valley, a member of the Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of America.Phyllis resided at Riverview Manor for the past 20 months. Her family would like to extend a thank you to the nursing staff for their loving care and support.There will be no funeral or memorial services at the request of the deceased.
