Philip E. Zimmer, Jr.

Philip E. Zimmer, 63, of Newark Valley, passed away suddenly on Feb. 27, 2015 at Wilson Hospital.Phil is survived by his children Brian E. Zimmer and Amanda Zimmer-Welch, her husband John and daughter, Cheyenne. Also surviving is his loving companion Hoa Nguyen, his brothers and sisters: Joseph (Linda) Zimmer, Robert (Penny) Zimmer, Daniel (Luanne) Zimmer, Suzanne (Henry) Koerber, and Kathleen Zimmer, several nieces, nephews and cousins.He was predeceased by his parents Philip, Sr and Ruth Zimmer and brother Paul Zimmer.Phil graduated from Newark Valley High School in 1970. While there, he participated in baseball and basketball. He was a long time employee of the former IBM in Endicott, presently I-3 Electronics. Phil was a quiet, gentle and kind man, and an avid sports fan. His presence will be greatly missed. Family and friends will gather at the MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley on Thursday from 3-5 pm to share memories and stories and celebrate his life. A funeral service will follow there at 5 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Patrick Cemetery, Owego.
