Phil Biehl, 76, of Owego, passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, following an illness. Phil was born in Newark Valley on June 24, 1933, a son of the late Walter and Pauline (Loring) Biehl and has been a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Newark Valley High School, served in the US Army from 1954-1956 and was a longtime and faithful employee of the former Stimming Greenhouse and George's Greenhouse in Newark Valley. Phil was a quiet yet very kind and thoughtful man who enjoyed listening to classical music. His photography skills were professional in quality though it was his hobby. His artistic abilities with pencil or watercolors created masterpiece pictures of landscapes, flowers and nature. Phil is survived by his brother, Donald L. Biehl of Colorado and Newark Valley. During his lifetime, Phil was a good friend to many area families including The Stimming, The Kobylarz, The Saxby, The Turk, The Dunn and The Meade Families.Friends are invited to a period of visitation and sharing of stories and memories from 2-4 p.m. on Friday at the MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley. A Celebration of his life will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Nancy Adams officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley.
