Paul L Payne

Paul Lawrence Payne, 71, of Richford, NY, passed away Wednesday, January 11th, 2023 after a prolonged battle with cardiovascular disease. He was born February 17th, 1951 in Johnson City, NY to Lawrence and Rosemary Payne. He was a proud Newark Valley Cardinals alumni: Class of 1969. He worked for many years at Grumman (later OMC, then Marathon Boat Group) in Marathon, NY until his retirement. He enjoyed being with his family, friends, and community members, as well as spending time on his many hobbies, which included: woodworking, reading, manual reloading, target practice, birdwatching, watching his favorite shows, and learning about history. He had a great sense of humor and was happy to lend a hand whenever he could. He is predeceased by his parents, and his loving wife Denise Payne. He is survived by his brothers: Gordon, and Duane (Lisa), his children: Benjamin (Jennifer), and Jennifer (Ernie), his nephew David and niece Stacey. A graveside service at Berkshire's Evergreen Cemetery will be held in the spring at a date to be determined after the cemetery has reopened, followed by a dish to pass celebration of life luncheon for Paul's family and friends.
