Patricia J. Baker

Patricia J. Baker, 76, joined her Lord on May 1, 2016. Pat was a lifelong, well known and loved resident of Speedsville, Tompkins County. Born on January 21, 1940 in Speedsville, she was a daughter of Sophie (Lawton) and the late Robert Dalola. In addition to her father, Pat was predeceased by her husband, Roland Baker (2004), her daughter Marsha Baker (Dec. 2015), her sister Margaret Amici and her brother-in-law, Donald Liddington. Pat treasured her family. She is survived by her mother Sophie Dalola, her daughter, Patricia (William) Ackley, all of Berkshire, her son, Allen (Bonnie) Baker, of Freeville, her sister and brother, Connie Liddington, Robert (Colleen) Dalola, Berkshire, and her brother-in-law Ron Amici, Ithaca. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren, Matthew (Erin) Russell, Janelle (Patrick) Hazelton, William Morse, Jr, Sarah (Ricardo) Grisolini and great grandchildren, Atticus Hazelton, Aspen, Gavin and Myah Grisolini, as well as many, many, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and her companion William Crispell. Pat was a 1957 graduate of Newark Valley High School. She married Roland, the love of her life, in 1960 and together they celebrated 44 wonderful years prior to his passing in 2004. Pat was a devoted and active member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Speedsville. She retired from Cornell University where she was a dedicated employee in the Athletic Department for many years. Following retirement, she continued to work part time. Her beautiful smile greeted many people at the Robert Trent Jones golf Course and also at Shirley and Paul Grennells Larchwood Farm Greenhouse, where her passion for flowers and gardening continued to be nourished. She also enjoyed helping with the food bank, cooking, baking (Worlds Best Pies), crocheting, sewing and working on the Tompkins County Board of Elections. Family and friends are invited to share stories and memories of Pat and her daughter Marsha Baker, at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Thursday, May 5th from 4-8 pm. Their Funeral Service will be held at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Speedsville on Friday at 11AM. The Rev. Richard Schaal, Pastor, will officiate.
