Owen D. Loomis, Sr

Owen D. Loomis, Sr. ,76, of Maine, NY passed away at his home on Dec. 6, 2017. Owen is survived by his children: Owen D. Loomis, Jr., and Ellen Dean Prince; his brother and sister: Norman Loomis, Catherine (Maurice) Carpenter; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his step children: Robert and John Miller, Tammy Miller and Michele Swingle. In addition to his parents Ralph and Rachel Loomis, he was predeceased by his beloved wife Marjorie Loomis. Owen was a master mechanic. He owned and operated several service stations in the area including Vestal Center, Forrest Lake and Endicott and for many years was head mechanic for the Town of Union, a position he retired from. The So. Tier Gas and Steam Engine Assoc. was originally formed by Owen and his Dad and he was proud to say,to this day it is a functioning organization. Owen enjoyed many hours in his garage at home and also loved to travel. He was loved and will be greatly missed. His family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St. Newark Valley on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 5-7 pm. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
