Omar C. Tennant Of BerkshireTo Live in the hearts of those we love is not to die.On Friday evening, July 3, 2015, Omar C. Tennant, our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and great friend, passed peacefully away from this life to be united in heaven with Joyce, his beloved wife of 58 years. He was surrounded in the love of his cherished children: Marlene (Gary) Fairlie, Annie Tennant Baker, Martha Baker, Brenda (Robert) LAmoreaux, Joe (Sherry) Tennant, Christine (Frank) Clark and Tom Tennant. He will also be greatly missed by his brothers and sister: Stanley Tennant, Darwin (Eileen) Tennant, Maxine Bennett; his 16 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Omar was born on Aug. 28, 1923 in Sanford, NY a son of the late Cecil C. and LaDella (Bouren) Tennant, In addition to his parents, and wife Joyce, he was also predeceased by his siblings, Jake Tennant, Viola Dedrick and son-in-law, Bubby Baker.Omar served his country for two years in the USMC during WW2 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He was a life-time member of the VFW.He, his parents and all of his siblings were blessed with the wonderful gift of an ear for music. Over the years, to the delight of many, they entertained at barn dances and other occasions with their old country music and square dance calling. He instilled this love of music and passed his talents on to his children also. For many years Omar was a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Richford, maintained a dairy farm, raised horses, somehow found time to enjoy his passion for reading western novels and all this time was one of the Greatest Fathers that ever lived! The Tennant Family extends a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of the exceptional care givers at Riverview Manor. Family and friends will gather to share memories and celebrate his life at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Tuesday, July 7th, from 11am until the time of the Funeral Service at 1 pm.
