Olive Beatrice Bean

Olive Beatrice Bean, also affectionately known at Beatsie, 93, of Newark Valley, passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, 2014 following a period of declining health. Olive is survived by her devoted and loving children and their families: sons: Harold and Mary Bean, Douglas and Yvonne Bean, daughter, Nancy and Gregory Smith; her cherished grandchildren Tonya Donovan, Tammy (Jeremy) Smith, Kristie (Travis) Gruszka, John Bean, Harry Bean, Shannon Bean, Derek (Tammy) Smith; great grandchildren: Darren Smith, Aubrey Smith, Matt Meade, Austin Smith, Logan Smith and Marshall Gruszka; her extended family: Joyce Vandenburg, Monica Vandenburg, and Willie Vandenburg, many nieces, nephews, cousins and adopted children she has cared for in her home over the years. Olive is now united with her parents, Oliver and Sarah Signs, her husband Walter Bean, her son John Bean and grandson Shawn Smith as well as her 9 siblings.A loving, kind and generous woman, Olive was always busy baking, sewing or gardening in addition to providing care to others. She will be greatly missed.Family and friends will gather at the West Newark Cemetery, on West Creek Rd. Sunday, Dec. 28th at 2:30 pm for a grave side service with Rev. James T. Willard officiating.
