Odane C. Huttel

Odane 'Huffy' Huttel, 56, of Newark Valley, passed away on January 30, 2022. He will be greatly missed by his mother Celia Dillenbeck; sister Anna May (Kevin) Burke; nephew "Little Man" Kevin; sister Diane (Bill) McGuyer; nephews Christopher and Jonathan McGuyer; and good friends in Sierra Vista, Chad and Tracey Long and Ron Maynez. Odane was predeceased by his father Duane Huttel and younger brother Blane. Odane was born on November 13, 1965 in Endicott, NY to Celia and Duane Huttel. Most of his life was dedicated to dairy farming- primarily at Needhams and Robinsons. Two years ago, he began his career at Walmart. He truly missed his Walmart friends in Sierra Vista, AZ, but made many more after transferring to Vestal, NY. Odane was an avid outdoorsman. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting (in his younger days), snowmobiling, and hiking. Another hobby of Odane's was raising monarch butterflies. It brought him great joy each and every time he would release one by his own hand. Odane also enjoyed watching the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) racing. The Tioga Ridge Runner Snowmobile Club, his best friend Jody Luszczek, and his nephew "Little Man" were his loves and the reasons he moved back to New York after a short residence in Sierra Vista, AZ. Odane was a hard worker and could accomplish all he set his mind to. He had a knack for fixing anything in need of repair and was the first to get his tools out and make sure the job was done right. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Odane never expected anything in return. Above all else, he treasured his friends, family and his dog "Baby Girl". Odane had a kind and gentle soul, and always saw the best in each person. All those who were blessed to be a part of Odane's life will always remember how truly wonderful he was and how much he did for everyone. He will be greatly missed. Friends and family are invited to a period of visitation at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley, on Sunday, February 6th from 2 - 4 pm, at which time a celebration of his life will be held.
