Norman L. Whittemore

Norman L. Whittemore, Jr., 75, of Newark Valley, left his earthly home and enterd his new life in heaven on March 4, 2016. For the past several years, Norm has faced his many illnesses with a strong faith and a tremendous amount of strength and courage. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife and soulmate of almost 30 years, Patricia (Roberts) Whittemore; his children: Cathy Bowersox, Theresa (Jerry) Roberts, William (Rosie) Whittemore, Terry (Kim) Ward, Sandy (Vic) Stephens, Norman Muskie Whittemore, III, Jamie Denny, Kelly (Craig) Elston, Brigitte Coolbaugh; 24 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; brothers: Donald (Sue), Albert (Maryjane) and Maurice (Mary) Whittemore; sister Shirley Prouty, nieces, nephews and cousins. Norm was predeceased by his parents, Ruth (Breeze) and Norman L. Whittemore, Sr. and siblings Mary Clark, Edie Dorscher, William Whittemore.For many years he owned and operated his own Oil Burner Repair service in the area and also was employed as a school bus driver for the Newark Valley School District. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and especially loved camping. He was also a faithful and devoted member of the Owego United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service and Celebration of His Life at the Owego United Methodist Church, 261 Main St. on Friday, March 11 at 10am.
