Norman D. Gorton, 91, of Richford, passed away on Dec. 25, 2017. He is survived by his children: Donald N. Gorton, Patricia (Thomas) Dickinson, Kelly (Richard) Clark; his brother LeRoy Gorton and sister Bertha Gurnee. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Alfred (Mary) Wackowicz, Brian (Lisa) Wackowicz, Justin Austin, Amanda (Mark) Doukellis and Sara Clark; great granddaughters, Lilly Austin and Kayla Doukellis, several nieces, nephews and cousins.Norm was a proud veteran of WW II serving in the US Navy. He was a member of IBEW, Syracuse and worked as a lineman throughout the US for many years. Never one to be idle, he enjoyed many facets of life including riding motorcycles with his brothers, deep sea fishing while residing in Florida, being a lifetime member of the NRA, keeping his farmstead in Richford looking like a State Park, enjoying ice cream with his grandkids and learning to fly! He was very happy to celebrate his 91st birthday on a helicopter ride with his friend Carl Barrows. His family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley on Friday, Dec. 29th from 10 am until Noon at which time a Funeral service will be held followed by Military Honors. Spring burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Richford. For those who wish, kindly consider directing memorials to the Richford Community Auxiliary.
