Norma Jean Wrighter

On March 7, 2012, we lost the anchor of our family, Norma Jean Wrighter, who left us to join her daughter, Nancy in heaven. She entered the world on March 14, 1924 in Endicott. Norma was predeceased by her parents (Ralph and Rachel Edson), three husbands and two siblings. She will be deeply missed by her children, Patty Balzer, Bob & Sharon Waterman, Laurie& Bob Carver, Holly Waterman, her son-in-law Jack Hurlburt, and the lights of her life, her special granddaughters, Skylar & Sierra Waterman. Her siblings, Lucille & Gus Frigo, Shirley & Carl Fellows, Harry & Evelyn Edson, and Joyce Thomas, will forever remember Norma. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Michelle & Chris Duffek, Bret& Shelly Waterman, Brad & Kelly Waterman, Brian Waterman, Kristen & Edward Severi, Robin & Paul Morse, Chase Carver, Amy Carver and Susan & Howard Witter, numerous great grandchildren, and many others that loved her.Norma was not a women defined by the clothes on her back or the possessions in her grasp, but by the people who surrounded her. Her eternal lessons of love, integrity, compassion, and strength were left on everyone she encountered. She had a feisty character at times that was only displayed when defending her family and those she loved. Although we mourn her loss, others are celebrating her arrival. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 12th at 1 pm at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley. Rev. Mary Haney will officiate. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A period of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11-12:45.
