Neil 'Chuck' Doty

Neil 'Chuck' Doty, 68, of Aberdeen, MD and formerly of Endwell, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday May 30, 2015. Born on Feb. 11, 1947, he was the only son of the late Willis S. and Vera L. (Tull) Doty. Chuck was a 1965 graduate of Maine Endwell High School and served in the US Army as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Silver Star. First Lieutenant Doty volunteered himself for an emergency extraction of a downed American helicopter crew. Under enemy siege and piloting through rain, fog and intense small arms fire he was instrumental in saving the lives of the besieged crew.Chuck is survived by his wife, Dianne Taylor Doty, his son, Robert V. (Kristen) Doty, his sisters, Daryl Doty Holloway and Gail Doty Hart, 4 stepsons, Randy Taylor, Robert, Donald, and Jon McDaniel, nine grandchildren: Neil, Taylor, Nathan, Aiden, Alexia, Robert, Andrew, Austin and Lliam; the mother of his son Robert, Peggy (Furches) Doty, aunts and uncles, Gordon (Millie) Tull, Gerald Tull, Evelyn Martin, nieces, Chris (Rocky) Rhoads, Darlene (Mark) Waggoner, Valerie (David) Springfield, nephews Jeffery (Julie) and Christopher Hart.In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a niece, Teresa Hart and step-daughter, Bobbie Jo Hash.Chucks family will receive friends at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St, Newark Valley on Saturday, June 6th from Noon until the time of the Funeral Service at 1 o'clock. Rev. Gary Freeland will officiate. Burial will follow in South Owego Cemetery with Full Military Honors Accorded. Memories and condolences may be written in Chuck's guestbook at macphersonfh.com
