Mike

Michael E. Harbac Jr., 80, of Newark Valley, passed away on June 2, 2023 following an extended period of declining health. Mike was born on Jan. 26, 1943 a son of the late Michael E. Sr. and Margaret Harbac. Mike is survived by his sons: Dale (Linsey) Harbac, David (Julie) Orchard and Greg Streck. He was a proud and doting grandfather to: Zamora Harbac, Dale Harback, Jr. Matthew W. Orchard and Joslin Streck. Sharon, his former wife also survives.

Mike was preceded in death by his son, Michael Harbac III and brother Edward Harbac.

Mike was a true ‘Jack of All Trades’ and had a gift for fixing almost anything. He used these talents throughout his life and as a hard-working, self-employed contractor. He also loved to cook and oversee some great bar-b-ques! Although he was not an early riser or ‘morning person’, his days were pack full of projects. He loved country music and was a self-taught guitar and banjo player. He was both jovial and boisterous and could tell some great stories! He loved boating, fishing and camping, was rarely seen without his cowboy hat and was most proud of his greatest title….”Grandpa’.

Friends are welcome to gather for an informal time of visiting at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley on Thursday, from 5-6 pm.
