May I Lisk

May I. Lisk, 97, passed peacefully early Sunday morning, January 18, 2009. May is survived by her loving family; daughters, Doris (Cliff Newman) Blackman, Sylvia "Sue" (Ralph) Howland, Judy (Walt) Klossner; and son, Richard (Gill Lombardo) Lisk; grandchildren, Jeff Blackman, Dona (George) Edson, Doug (Sandy) Howland, Tina (Mitch) Thurston, Mikki (Mike) Rose, Randy Klossner, Leslie Lisk; great-grandchildren, Jackie (Scott) Wandell, Kellie (Joe Mooney) Bennett, Brandy and Brett Howland, Bryan (Roxann) Thurston, Stacey Thurston, Eric and Shane Cornelius, Skyler Rose; great-great-grandchildren, Jake, Allie, Brianna and Daimeon. May was born on May 14, 1911 in Ithaca a daughter of Lyle and Nellie (Personius) Tubbs. On July 20, 1929 she was united in marriage with her sweetheart, Leslie D. Lisk. For 46 years, they lived on West Creek Road where they raised their family and operated a first class vegetable farm. Leslie passed on January 28, 1975. May continued to remain very active cooking, baking, gardening, and reading western novels. She also enjoyed writing and had many pen pals. At one time, a pen pal in each of the 50 states.A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. Rev. Daniel Martin and Pastor Vickie Andrews will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in West Newark Cemetery.
