Maurice E. Ardell

Maurice E. Ardell, 92, formerly of Vestal, passed away on Oct. 22, 2014 at the J.G. Johnston Nursing Facility. Maurice was affectionately known as Moe or Judd to many of his friends. Born in Newark Valley on May 6, 1922, he was the son of the late Ruth (Cleveland) and Judson W. Ardell, DVM, and brother of the late Frances Ardell Kettler. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 68 years: Marion Allen Ardell. He was a very proud dad of twin daughters: Linda and husband Robert Mosher, Sharon and husband Jack Bielicki, and daughter, Carol Markowsky and husband Wesley (deceased). Also surviving are: his brother Allan C. and wife Voula Ardell; 7 grandchildren:Julie,Aaron,Laural,Celeste,Megan, Allison, John; 8 great grandchildren: Michael, Bailey, Katie, David, Drew, Ryan, Elise and Silas; several nieces and nephews. Judd was a graduate of Newark Valley High School, Class of 1940 and also attended Clarkson College prior to his service in the US Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a retired employee of IBM, Endicott and a 60 year member of St. Marks - Vestal Masonic Lodge #435. Friends are invited to share memories and celebrate his life with his family on NOVEMBER 15, 2014 from 10-11:30 am at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley. Masonic Services will be conducted at 11:30 followed by a Memorial Service with Rev. Lea Harding officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the conclusion of the service.
